Peggy Robles-Alvarado\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Peggy Robles-Alvarado is an award-winning educator, poet, performer, playwright, and producer. She is a Jerome Hill Foundation Fellow in Literature, a three-time International Latino Book Award winner, a 2026 NYSCA\/NYFA Artist Fellow, and a BRIO award recipient.<\/p>

Her latest poetry collection, BURN ME BACK, published by Four Way Books, was selected as the 2025 Booklist\u2019s Editors\u2019 Choice for Adult Poetry Book. It is also a finalist for the 2026 Juan Felipe Herrera Best Poetry Book Award to be announced in October.<\/p>

Peggy has earned writing fellowships from CantoMundo, Desert Nights, The Frost Place, The Ashbery Home School, VONA, Candela Playwrights, Dramatic Question Theater, and NALAC. Peggy\u2019s work appears in The Breakbeat Poets Vol. 4: LatiNext, \u00a1Manteca!, great weather for MEDIA, and What Saves Us, as well as online in Poets.org, The Quarry at Split This Rock, The Common, Tribes.org, and NACLA.org.<\/p>

An acclaimed poet and powerful force in poetic theater, Peggy is a two-time recipient of the Bronx Cultural Visions Grant, supported by the Howard Gilman Foundation, for her innovative works MUSTBE>THAN21GRAMS and DURA. In 2023, she developed her play SUAVE as a Dramatic Question Theater Fellow, and her monologue \u201cRecycle & Return\u201d was featured in The Playground Experiment\u2019s Faces of America Monologue Festival. She was also an inaugural fellow of the Candela Playwrights Program, supported by The Dramatist Guild, and has since served as a faculty member for their summer fellowship series.
Peggy\u2019s work has also been featured at the Solfest Latine Theater Festival, Harlem 9: 48 Hours En El Bronx, the Dodge Poetry Festival, Lincoln Center, HBO Habla Women, the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, PEN America World Voices Festival, Harvard University, Association of Writers and Writing Programs Tampa, FL, Pratt Institute, Columbia University, and New York University Latinx Caribbean Poetry Festival.<\/p>

With two master\u2019s degrees in education, an MFA in performance and performance studies, and a teaching career spanning over twenty years in the elementary and higher education systems in New York City, Peggy founded her 501(c)(3), Robleswrites Productions Inc.. She created Lalibreta.online, The Abuela Stories Project, and continuously produces original literary events that foster intergenerational communal healing, literacy, creativity, and equity, supporting and publishing writers of color with a special focus on women writers.
